On November 2, 2007, the Division II Grand Valley State Lakers defeated the #8 Michigan State Spartans 85-82 in two overtimes in an exhibition game. A few days later, fellow GLIAC member Findlay would defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes 70-68 in another exhibition game.
