Velvet James "Jim" Barnes (April 13, 1941 – September 14, 2002), also known as "Bad News" Barnes, was an American basketball player. He was the first overall pick of the 1964 NBA Draft, selected by the New York Knicks. He won the NBA champion in 1968 with the Boston Celtics.
