Added by Wagnike2The Western Athletic Conference (known as the WAC) is a conference participating in the NCAA's Division I, with member institutions in California, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. It was founded in 1962.
During the late 1990s, the WAC conducted an experiment with a 16-team "megaconference" format. Two divisions of eight teams apiece (called Mountain Division and Pacific Division) played full double round-robin schedules, as well as a single home-and-home series with one team from the other division. This format lasted only three seasons before eight schools split off to form the Mountain West Conference.
