The Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) is a women's college basketball tournament created in 2009 by Sport Tours. The inaugural tournament will occur at the conclusion of the 2009–10 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. Selections for the WBI are announced on Selection Monday. The field for the WBI consists of a 16-team, single elimination divided into two regions with 8 seeded teams in each.[1]
Teams in the WBI compete on the home court of the higher seed. The championship game is hosted by the team with the higher RPI Starting 2011 The championship game is hosted by the team with the higher RPI or the highest seed. Teams not making the NCAA Tournament or WNIT are eligible for the WBI. Teams that are being considered for the WBI will receive an agreement from Sport Tours International.
